AN ADDRESS BY HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE CROWN PRINCE OF JOHOR REGARDING THE PITCH CONDITION OF THE NATIONAL STADIUM, KUALA LUMPUR SPORTS CITY

The pitch should have been given more time for its roots to strengthen, similar to the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium’s pitch. However, the national team wants to use it as soon as possible. That’s the decision of FAM and the stadium authorities. If it were up to me, I would give it more time, at least another 2 or 3 months. This contractor is the same one who made JDT’s field.

Yesterday, during the inauguration ceremony, I mentioned to everyone that this pitch needs more time because its roots aren’t strong yet. I also informed everyone present that the pitch will be damaged in tomorrow’s match.

This is a proven product. It’s been demonstrated. But it needs to be taken care of properly. There’s no difference. The grass is the same, the contractor is the same. The only difference at SNBJ is that there’s no TMJ there, that’s all. If the Football Association of Malaysia wants to use SSI, let me know and I’ll get it ready.
