SULTAN IBRAHIM POWER PLANT – WORLD’S FIRST COMMERCIAL POWER PLANT WITH LATEST GAS TURBINE EFFICIENCY TECHNOLOGY

HM Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Sultan of Johor and HRH Major General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Crown Prince of Johor attended the Opening Ceremony of the Southern Power Generation (SPG) Power Station in Pasir Gudang today, 22 March 2022.

The station, named the Sultan Ibrahim Power Plant, is the first commercial power plant in the world to use the latest gas turbine efficiency technology produced by General Electric (GE).

The construction of SPG at a cost of RM4.7 billion was a joint venture between Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and SIPP Energy Sdn Bhd, and a milestone in the development of the electricity generation industry in Johor and the south of the country.

With the operation of this station, it would indirectly boost and encourage investment efforts from within and outside the country. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.
