TMJ LAUNCHES THE TUNKU MAHKOTA ISMAIL YOUTH CENTRE

JOHOR BAHRU: The Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and his wife, Che Puan Khaleeda Bustamam has launched the Tunku Mahkota Ismail Youth Centre (TMIYC) Johor Bahru located in Hutan Bandar, here, today.

As a leader in activities, TMIYC is perceived as a beginning and a benchmark for the level of commitment of the Johor government towards the youth in the state.

Menteri Besar of Johor, Datuk Hasni Mohammad said a Johor youth database with an allocation of RM500,000 would also be created through the Johor Digital agenda.

He said the database will provide comprehensive information related to the youth to state policy makers.

“There are two aspects of development which are focused on in the development of TMIYC, namely physical development and human development. Physical development is the connection point for the centralized social development interventions for youth to become an exemplary and a capable society of the future.

“Meanwhile, human development is to cultivate a more creative and innovative youth mindset in all fields in terms of arts, sports and business,” he said in his speech.

It is estimated that there are more than 1.5 million youth between the age of 14 to 39 in the state.

With a development cost of RM14 million, TMIYC is expected to be expanded in other districts.

There are 11 components of facilities at TMIYC including a multipurpose hall, skate park, rock-climbing facilities, an amphitheatre, mountain bike trail, pump track and playground.

TMIYC opens daily from 7 am to 11 pm.
