On 23 January 2010, following the death of the late Sultan Iskandar Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail, His Majesty’s son, DYAM Tunku Ibrahim Ismail, Tunku Mahkota of Johor at that time was proclaimed as the Sultan of Johor, inheriting the throne of his late father. After ascending the throne, Tunku Ibrahim agreed to use the title of DYMM Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.
